Jeff Greenstein began as a professional investment advisor over 30 years ago. Prior to starting YIS Capital, Jeff was the co-founder and CEO of Quellos Group, LLC. Starting in 1994 Quellos grew to become one of the world’s largest global alternative investment fund of funds manager. At the time of its acquisition in 2007, by BlackRock for over $1 billion dollars, Quellos managed in excess of $25 billion dollars on behalf of leading institutional and private investors worldwide. From 1994 through 2007, Jeff Greenstein was a member of Quellos’ investment committee which involved evaluating alternative investment strategies and managers, overseeing the many portfolios managed by the firm, and building the large internal investment team. In addition to his investment role, Jeff as CEO was responsible for all business aspects of the firm that grew to include over 300 professionals based in Seattle, New York and London and Hong Kong.
Prior to starting Quellos, Jeff Greenstein spent 4 years as co-founder and managing partner of a relative value hedge fund that concentrated on exploiting market inefficiencies in the global derivative markets. Launching a fund of this nature was possible due to Jeff’s previous experience as an options floor trader on the Chicago Board Options Exchange and part of Oppenheimer’s Institutional Derivatives division. Jeff started his professional investing career as a Financial Consultant with Merrill Lynch in 1984.
In addition to his role at YIS, Jeff Greenstein is a founder of The Greenstein Family Foundation and is actively involved in its pursuit of “venture philanthropy” that addresses its areas of interest. Also, Jeff is co-founder of The Greenstein Lab — a space designed to exhibit and promote contemporary artists and their works.
